Key West is one of the great tourist cities. Its history in the discovery of the New World makes it an international destination. Stories of pirates and ancient riches are memorialized in this old town. Stories and riches still being discovered today.

Key West has a tradition among its diverse crowd of towns people, tourists,

street merchants, carnival performers and strange personalities. They gather in Mallory Square each evening to watch the sun go down over the tropical ocean.

I thought it would be fun to be part of this tradition. I began painting the old square rigged ships that load up with tourists and sail out to watch the sunset in front of Mallory Square.

Using these paintings I became part of the scene, selling them to the tourists for whatever the market could claim.

I get a kick out of showing and talking about these paintings, I keep a few around,  at the art fairs back in New York too.
